Who They Are

Bridge of Hope is a non-profit organization (501c3) that serves people in transition. They provide furniture, household and kitchen items, clothing and food to families and individuals in need. This organization works with families leaving domestic violence and homeless shelters, the elderly, those facing crisis, single parents and the refugee community in San Diego. They are currently serving food to about 1300 families per month.

What They Do

Bridge of Hope has been in operation since 2006, and in City Heights for four of those years. The challenges they face each day are due to poverty. Families are struggling more and more each day to put food on the table, let alone to provide a bed, a pair of shoes, diapers or school supplies. Bridge of Hope helps with those daily needs. Additionally, they are contacted 4-5 times a week by other social service agencies to help their clients with furniture, clothing and food (ex: Jewish Family Services, YWCA, San Diego Rescue Mission and a number of safe houses sheltering domestic violence victims). One of their biggest needs is for transitional housing, as San Diego’s homeless population is increasing. Their goal is to one day have a community center where they can hold classes, children and youth programs, a computer lab, and special events for the community.
