What We Do
HelpHOPELive brings communities together in tax-exempt fundraising efforts to help patients and families pay medical bills and access treatments.
Thousands of patients each year face severe financial challenges because they need a transplant or are living with a catastrophic injury or illness. For many, there is a network of support in their community that is eager to help.At HelpHOPELive, we show fundraising volunteers – these are often family members, friends, neighbors and co-workers – how to engage members of their own community to join in fundraising opportunities to help cover the cost of uninsured medical expenses. These efforts can provide long-term financial support to patients, and can also play an important role in helping family, friends and neighbors to heal and provide more effective support and friendship.
To meet the needs of each patient effectively, we use a highly personalized approach, pairing each patient with a HelpHOPELive Fundraising Coordinator who works closely with family and friends to understand their personal network of support. From there we help develop customized fundraising plans that incorporate tools and options that are the right fit for that community.The money we help raise helps pay for a wide range of expenses including out-of-pocket costs for medication, relocation or travel fees to visit specialized treatment centers, and even rent and mortgage payments for patients who are unable to continue working during treatment or recovery.Last year, funds raised through HelpHOPELive community campaigns provided more than $6.7 million in financial support to nearly 1,200 patients and families in need.
